Rise and Shine Walkers, LLC is a horse breeding farm in Kokomo, Indiana! We are located one hour north of Indianapolis in the heart of Indiana. Our goal is to raise sensible, well bred, and gentle Tennessee Walking horses of many colors. We are concentrating on Palomino, Buckskin, Cremello, Champagne, Tobiano, Blue Roan and spotted horses. However, we will not sacrifice quality for the color. We strive to present only the best mares, babies and stallions. Our goal is to maintain our integrity and honesty in order to promote the wonderful Tennessee Walking horse not only in Indiana, but also nationwide. Rise and Shine Walkers is a family owned company. Here we take the breed serious and the care of the animals is our biggest concern. We breed for the pleasure horse, not the pacey performance based horse. You will notice some of the more modern names in our girls and boys. However, you will see them crossed with proven sires of well gaited pleasure horses. The stallions come from a variety of backgrounds. Our two perlinos are proven in their ability to sire smooth, four beat, head nodding, ground covering; and just as important, super intelligent, calm, and sane babies. We are true promoters of the breed. I have been around horses all my life and now have the ability to surround myself with them, completely. I was originally going to go to Veterinarian School but decided to stick with Medicine instead. However, I think I get the best of both worlds.

We love the Tennessee Walking Horse. We thoroughly enjoy trail riding ourselves! We are true fans of the pleasure aspect of this breed. You will find a square going, four beat gait that is second to none in our babies. They love people and will grow up loving people. Nothing bad happens to our babies. They are handled with respect, patience, and trust. We have traveled the country looking for the best of the best. As you can read from our testimonials, everyone that comes here agrees. The best compliment is when folks refer their friends and family to our farm. We have a lot of repeat business. In fact, we are the breeders of the first walking horses in Asia. We will share with you below a comment from Ben Hoar, that was actually published in The Voice, the Journal of the Tennessee Walking Horse Association:

“Within a week I was on a scouting trip with Margaret, 16, and Benjamin, 14, visiting 6 Tennessee Walking Horse farms . . .. At one point, we considered just going home, (to Thailand) but I kept feeling like we just needed to keep walking it out. We decided to make one more stop at Rise and Shine Walkers after speaking to Micki Haendiges. She had a few horses that really interested us. Micki and Terri were honest, helpful, and generous with their time. We chose a big long yearling palomino stud colt. He was the type I like, big boned, head nodding, superhorse. He just couldn’t stop nodding his head at every speed. We chose two long yearling mares to go with him that had the bloodlines, temperament, walk, conformation and color we wanted. As we drove home, we had found the horses that we wanted and we just hoped the dream wasn’t over.” God delivered for Ben and his family and all three are safely in Thailand.
