Waiting for Spring to come!

I hope everyone is off to a great start this year!  We have been in the middle of a really deep freeze!  The ground is frozen solid and the snow has been flying. However, our sales have been hot!   This is a great time of year.

If you are looking for some tried and true mares for riding, you really should not look any further. I have riding mares of all ages and abilities.  I went out over the past few weeks and rode many of my horses. I feel guilty for not spending more time with them. They are so eager to please, ready to ride and they get upset when you don't "pick them" for riding.  One of my favorite mares is Walk the Edge of Goodbye and Mississippi Cash. Both of these mares have been everywhere. Leon Oliver used to own and ride "RedBird" (Walk the Edge of Goodbye).  She is one of the youngest Red Bud Rascal mares alive. She is very well gaited as you can imagine and has seen it all!  Silver is my girl. Both of these mares are very special to me and I only put them out for sale to just the right home. In fact, sometimes it is hard to even think about them leaving!  If you want a "do everything" kind of mare, you should look at one of these girls. In fact, as I have written, there are several excellent mares that I need to sale because I feel selfish holding on to them. I can only ride so many!

I had to make a decision about selling some of them. They are in their prime. I will sell them for a very reasonable price to just the right home!  If you want sane and smart and super good, then you should consider some of my girls. Remember, if you are not a good home or if you plan on just moving her down the road, then please, save us both some time. They are my pride and joy. Actually, I do love them. I love them so much that I want them to be loved and have a job.

Please call 765-438-3844 or 765-438-5116 (more likely to be answered during the work day).  I can tell you about these girls and the wonderful babies that we have for sale.

I hope that this is your best year ever. You can help to insure this by getting a Rise and Shine Walker horse. You will never be disappointed.  That is our guarantee and we do stand behind our word!

New Sales! Sales are Hot here in the Deep Freeze!

Annual Sales Event!

As part of our annual sale, we are selling at deep discounts to give everyone a chance to get a hold of a quality walking horse. We are so proud of our babies and our mares.

I am going to sell a few select mares at this time at a great discount. I have several riding mares that are for sale. I have a daughter of Red Bud's Rascal that is for sale. She is an awesome mare. I have really enjoyed riding her. She is too much fun to ride to be used solely as a broodmare. This is Leon Oliver's personal riding mare in the past. Her name is Walk the Edge of Goodbye. I am asking $3000 for her. She is sound and sane. She is broodmare sound and has raised some fine colts.  This mare has been there and done that. If you want a mare that has the great foundation line and can walk a hole in the ground, you need not look any further.  She was Leon Oliver's personal riding mare. I paid $5000 for her and thought I stole her! She is ready!  She is smart!  She is smooth!  She has no vices!  She will only go to a GREAT home!

I have a several fantastic buckskin riding mares. I have my personal riding mare, Scout, for sale to a great home. Actually, all of them will only go to a great home. She has been everywhere. She is too tall for me. I also have about 6 personal riding mares and I feel guilty when I can't ride them all. They look at me with those big eyes and I just melt. Scout has been to East Fork several times, Shawnee, Virginia, and other places. Her first ride as a young horse was down the Virginia Creeper trail. If you have ever been there you know that it is very busy with hikers and bikers. She was a pro walking across over 40 wooden bridges with bike riders wearing back packs. She was great!  I would love for someone to enjoy her.

I do have several more. I have a buckskin mare by the name of Glitter for sale. She is a fantastic mare that came from Thunder Valley Walkers. She is never been broke but she could be easily broke. I am going to keepTraveler so I don't really want to raise anymore double dilutes so I think I am really going to downsize my buckskin herd.

I also have several buckskin tobiano mares that are own daughters of Spotted Alen Again. I have them for sale for $3500. They are both broke to ride.  They have babies on their side. If you act before they are weaned, we will include the baby at this price. They are going to be weaned soon.

Please contact Terri at 765-438-5116 for any questions. If you can not get a hold of her (because of location), please try my cell at 765-438-3844  We hope to speak to you soon!

We have another Super Boy - EEAACrCr

Joe Colt | Rise and Shine Walkers | Tennessee Walking HorsesI have plenty to tell you this week. I have received the test results from UC Davis!  We have another Super Boy!  The gorgeous perlino colt out of Holly and by Traveler is a EEAACrCr.  He is very well mannered and a perfect colt.  We would love for him to go to a great home so that he can be utilized. The gift of his color genetics is just the icing on the cake. He is perfectly balanced and is the perfect blend of the walking horse gait and temperament. He will make an outstanding herd sire. For those who want to take the guess work out of breeding, you should consider Joe! Say it IS so, Joe.  You are the perfect breeding stallion prospect with your gait, your temperament, and your color genetics. Please look at Joe's page if you are interested in someone special!

Also, Cappie's colt, Jacob is a perlino stallion that has great genetics, a wonderful temperament (a little too curious, kind of a pest) and the best in gait and size. He is going to be a large colt with a fantastic presence.  Check out his page if you are interested in this fine boy!

Magnum's New Owner

We love to hear from anyone. (Send Feedback) Especially when it's a proud new owner of a Rise and Shine Walker. Here's the latest update from Magnum's new owner, Tracey from GoingGaited Magazine.

Just a note to tell you a little about how Magnum is doing. He is under saddle now and doing wonderfully. He is confident and trusting. I don't ask him for gait yet, but sometimes when we're going downhill he breaks into a fantastic little runwalk and rack and I have to admit I indulge for a few seconds before I bring him back down. It's really wonderful. We are bit training now with a training snaffle and I have had to wrap a fruit rollup on the bit for him to accept it. He really hated it for the first few days, but being the cooperative boy that he is, he takes it anyway. I am really proud of him - who he is and who he has the potential to become. He is everything I  have ever wanted and he motivates me to be better myself so I can be better for him. I adore him!

Velvet Has A New Home

We have many satisfied customers throughout the years here at the ranch. Just the other day another one of our satisfied customers, Barb, wrote to say just how happy she is with Velvet. Barb recently purchased Velvet, a black filly, and has been very satisfied.

Velvet | Rise and Shine Walkers | Tennessee Walking HorsesHi this is Barbara from Michigan. I just wanted to let u know that Asia Sabbath Little Angel (Velvet) did very well today for loading in the trailer and had her shot without any issues. They gave her a A for confirmation and an A+ for her personality. She is doing great. I have spent every day with her since she has been here with baby walks. When I ask for her foot she is starting to give me her leg. She is the best baby ever.

I love her lots
Bye for now,

Barb

Studies prove that people who supplement their diet with Omega-3 fatty acids may require less anti-inflammatory medication as well as experience less pain and more joint mobility.

Is it getting harder to get up on your horse? Does your body ache much more than it did 10 years ago? I think the short answer for me is a "yes". I originally started out with a non-gaited horse and with time, became a great fan of the Tennessee Walking Horse as the best horse for my mind, body and spirit. Let me explain. As a medical doctor, I have seen firsthand the impact of improper body mechanics and physical stress on the joints and muscles of our bodies!
